Ø  The lymphatic system consists of:
n  (1) lymph (淋巴)

n  (2) lymph nodes (淋巴結).

Component
Feature
Lymph
n   Has the same composition as (3) tissue fluid,
n   Composition is similar to (4) blood except for the absence
of red blood cells, blood platelets and (5) plasma proteins
Lymph vessels
n   Formed by joining of (6) lymph capillaries
n   Lymph inside is kept flowing very slowly by the contraction of the
(7) skeletal muscles
n   (8) valves are present to prevent backflow of lymph
Lymph nodes
n   Located at intervals along the lymph vessels
n   (9) White blood cells accumulate there to kill the germs in the lymph

Ø   Functions of the lymphatic system:
n   Returns excess (10) tissue fluid to the blood circulation
n   Protects us against disease by(11) filtering out germs from the lymph
